Although this single is easily achieving 4 out of 5 stars, with the climate, volume, and season of the songs release I do not believe this will be a HIT for the summer. This is a great addition to the repertoires of Lambert and Stapleton as they move forward. I do feel there is a slight chance this single could get big in late fall. Depends on if there is room in an award show for this number. Miranda and Chris are both main stays in Country Music awards shows, and such a duet would not be a big surprise. However, their radio plays probably wouldn't be great with tons of new music getting pumped out every week.
The song has GREAT vocals which is what is expected for both these artists. Both are known for their vocals being their strength. It has a funky disco slash late 70's vibe. The lyrics are quite obviously basic, but the harmonies are what make this song good. Even other added voices harmonizing with the two stars really is thought out and produced and mixed well. The song has a hook "You are the part of me!" High belted notes with some of Country music's best really brings the rating to 4. Lastly, the grittiness that Miranda shows in vocals to Chris's famously powerful style really can get you listening more than once.
Will this be a HIT?
I do not believe so, but it could in the Fall.
How can you say no to a Chris Stapleton song?
Chris is the top male "vocalist" in Country Music, but that doesn't mean he can't be beat out by better songs with more flexible voices. Chris's lane as a singer is very narrow. He has a specific sound and style.
Will Miranda's career be in jeopardy?
Absolutely not! I was worried about it after her last album performing only ok, but then she made appearances on "American Idol" and decided to be the opener for Morgan Wallen's Tour! She will be just fine. If I was her manager, I would tell her to write a duet song with him and write a few new singles and sing them before her leg on the tour is over.
